Next time you hand your debit card over to the waiter, if you think it’s safe, then you are WRONG! Dont get me wrong, debit cards are from heaven compared to credit cards! Credit cards can charge you even if you don’t use it! STAY AWAY FROM THOSE CARDS!!! But that is not the point of this, the point is, if you don’t choose a bank with repay benifits and security, this is what happens; Brad Lipman paid his $60.00 meal with his debit card. Then the waiter put the card at the casheir’s register because the casheir was at the bathroom. The waiter then left the debit card sitting out there for anyone to see! Unfortunately, someone did. The thief took the card and inserted it into a portable “skimmer”. The person was able to, and did, copy his debit info, codes, and worse of all, make a carbon copy of his debit card!
During the next week, he noticed the money in his account quickly draining. Shocked, he called his bank and let them know about what was going on. They replied, “Sir, we are sure that your bank account is safe, nothing could have touched it, perhaps this is someone else’s account information your money is perfectly alright.”
But it wasn’t.
And because of the bank’s lack of security, the theif got away. With all of Lipman’s money in his back pocket.
And the bank did nothing about it.
And this just goes to show that if you get a debit card, which you should, make sure it is always safe and if there are instinces where a casheir has to swipe the debit card and not you. Make sure you pay with cash.
